As part of Ipswich Threads, Mieke den Otter and Annamaria Mays Vermeer put on a special eco-dying daty at Mieke’s house. It was an extraordinary day.

The first video follows the process of preparing fabrics and dyeing material for the pot.

The second clip shows the unveiling – it’s exta-ordinary to see it all emerge.

A number of pieces were created for the Ipswich threads exhibition – some of which will be on display at Parallel Threads exhibition. Check them out!

Many thanks to Trish Fitzsimons for contributing the pale green raw silk for dyeing. It was fabric left over from her wedding outfit.

And again she has generously offered it for display for the Parallel Threads exhibition.

Its called “Nuts & Bolts & Smashed Avocado” – which are exactly the materials used.

A chiffon scarf with various hues of brown is also on display.
