Who can participate?
- Any Ipswich creative who feels a connection to Ipswich’s woollen manufacturing industry, and those who saw the impacts of the loss of the mills.
- Any Queensland creative with a strong connection to the state’s textile manufacturing industry
What can I contribute?
Create a work that speaks to one of the themes (or more):
- the parallel timelines between Australia and the USA;
- workers’ experiences;
- mill closures and their impact on you and your community;
- adaption and renewal beyond the closures.
If you exhibited a work in Ipswich Threads,in 2023, you are welcome to reprise that piece.
Works can be any medium, or mode of expression – e.g. arts poetry, film and may include various textile techniques – spinning, weaving, felting, eco dying, up-cycling, fabric design etc.
What are my options for participating
You may participate by sending your work for exhibition or be part of a digital display.
- Sending the work to: Deborah Baronas, 24 Lyndon St, Warren, Rhode Island, 02885 USA. This needs to arrive by 22 November 2024.
- Art work can be for sale. The Bristol Art museum takes no commission.
- If you are participating digitally, arrangements will be made with you. The recordings will contribute to a documentary video.
