Firestation 101 – The making of an Exhibition

1-3 September 2023 10am to 4pm

The first exhibition featured the process of creating an exhibition by showcasing methods and works by Rhode Island Deborah Baronas. The exhibition was put together in 25 days and was only possible with community assistance of local artists. The show included original pieces, woollen mill artefacts, eco-dyeing, and upcycled blankets from the mill.

The exhibition and launch were incredibly successful, demonstrating what may be possible for a coming exhibition in 2024/2025 to celebrate 150 years since the QWMC formed in Ipswich.

Archive to Art Workshop series

In August 2023, a series of workshops were conducted where Deborah Baronas shared her techniques, and as a way to inspire local artists to participate in Ipswich Threads.
